While distress is commonplace in cancer patients, the methods for managing this distress in cancer care provision are not yet standardized, despite screening protocols. The manuscript presents the development of an advanced Distress Thermometer (eDT) and the strategy for its implementation throughout a cancer institute, emphasizing changes made at the provider, system, and clinic level.
To pinpoint the problem and discover solutions for enhanced distress screening and management, provider-level focus groups and surveys were employed. The technical EHR infrastructure at the system level underwent changes to better leverage distress screening findings and create automated pathways for specialty service referrals. The eDT's practicality and acceptability for distress identification and management were highlighted by both stakeholder focus group participants (n=17) and survey respondents (n=13). The system-wide modifications to the electronic health record (EHR) achieved high accuracy in identifying patients requiring distress management, ensuring that 100% of those with moderate to severe distress were connected directly to the suitable specialty provider. Clinic-level workflow enhancements designed to expand the use of eDT produced a noteworthy increase in distress screening compliance, increasing from 85% to 96% over a one-year assessment period.

The taxonomic position of the EF45031T strain, isolated from the Neungam Carbonate hot spring, was investigated through the implementation of the polyphasic taxonomic approach. Comparing the 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain EF45031T with the type strain Brachybacterium nesterenkovii CIP 104813T revealed a striking similarity of 97.7%. The Antarctic Peninsula and neighboring islands are particularly vulnerable to the pervasive effects of global warming. The substantial impact of methane (CH4) on climate change can be mitigated by employing microbial oxidation processes, specifically through the activity of methanotrophic bacteria, for CH4 emission reduction. Due to the insufficient research performed in this geographical area, understanding this biological process is crucial. To characterize psychrophilic enrichment cultures of aerobic methanotrophs from lake sediments within the Fildes Peninsula (King George Island, South Shetland Islands) was a principal goal of this investigation, alongside the task of determining the distribution of the genus Methylobacter in various lake sediment sites across the peninsula. Four stable methanotrophic cultures were developed and subsequently scrutinized through the methodology of metagenome-assembled genomes (MAGs). Analysis of the 16S rRNA gene phylogeny of methanotroph MAGs from these enrichment cultures placed K-2018 MAG008 and D1-2020 MAG004Ts within Methylobacter clade 2, revealing high similarity to Methylobacter tundripaludum SV96T, with percentages of 9788% and 9856%, respectively. The average nucleotide identity (ANI) and digital DNA-DNA hybridization (dDDH) values with M. tundripaludum were markedly less than 95% (848% and 850%, respectively), and significantly under 70% (302% and 303%, respectively), strongly suggesting a novel species candidate, thereby prompting the naming convention 'Ca. The proposal for Methylobacter titanis is presented. Antarctica is the source of this first species belonging to clade 2 of the Methylobacter genus.
